Burel Factory, nestled in the Serra da Estrela mountains of Portugal, is renowned for crafting authentic woollen fabrics using 100% nationally sourced wool. It stands as a testament to the revival of traditional wool manufacturing, restoring old machines, preserving ancestral weaving techniques, and reinvigorating local craftsmanship. Our signature fabric, burel, is a traditional Portuguese woven and felted wool known for its durability, water resistance, and exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation. Originally used by shepherds for protection against harsh weather, burel is now a highly sought-after fabric recognized for its natural, biodegradable, and recyclable properties. Available in over 80 colors, 20 patterns, and multiple weights (450g, 600g, 800g, and 1400g), burel is a versatile material ideal for outerwear, footwear, accessories, upholstery, wall coverings, and architectural applications.
