Rethinking the end of life of textiles: between environmental emergency, industrial realities and societal challenges

Apr 23, 2025 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Port Room / Salle portuaire

Post-consumer textile waste recycling is a central challenge in building a sustainable and circular textile industry. Given the diversity of fibers, chemical treatments, and complex structures, the adoption of effective processes remains hampered by numerous obstacles: technological, economic, regulatory, and even societal. This seminar provides an overview of the main recycling technologies currently available (mechanical, chemical, enzymatic, biological), with a critical look at their limitations and applicability conditions. Examples of concrete applications—some already on the way to commercialization—will illustrate the progress being made. Finally, the technical resources and equipment available within the CTT Group will be presented as levers for validation, prototyping, and support for companies wishing to embark on this path.
